USHER RESPONSIBILITIES
If you can’t come on a
particular Sunday, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR FINDING A REPLACEMENT
Get doughnuts from IGA
Arrive at least 15
minutes early to put the hymn numbers at the front of the church, to fold and
pass out the bulletins, and to greet visitors and our members who come
The communion usher
should be even a little earlier to make sure he has time to get communion
ready and still help with the other responsibilities
Light the candles – the
first Sunday of the month, fill the candles with wax (the wax is located on
the table by the copier)
Ring the bell when
church is ready to begin
Take the offering
Count the people, write
it down on the back board
Usher for communion
Put out candles on last
hymn
Usher people out after
church
After everyone else has
been ushered out, make a quick check of the pews to pick up the leftover
bulletins and such
Extinguish candles
Wash the communion ware
It is your
responsibility to make sure the church is not too hot or too cold—adjust
the heat and/or windows and fans as appropriate
If you stay for Bible
Study, turn off the lights and make sure the toilets are flushed
